What you should know when you buy health insurance?

1. Pre-existing conditions mean any signs, symptoms,

complications, disease, illness, or injury that the insured person was treated or knew about previously or it can be medically proven that the condition or disease existed before, including the sickness not completely cured before the insured person joined the insurance policy.

2. Waiting period is the period during which a health insurance

policy will not pay the benefits from the commencement date. For example, with a waiting period of 30 days during the first year, the policy will not pay for any kind of sickness from the commencement date.

3. Inpatient or Hospitalization means a person who is registered as an inpatient admitted

to a hospital under the care of a licensed medical practitioner and medical necessity for not less than 6 hours.

4. Outpatient means a person who receives medical treatment in a clinic,

hospital outpatient department, or emergency room or undergoes a procedure without the medical necessity to be admitted as an inpatient.

5. Premium is an amount to be paid for an insurance policy annually, quarterly,

or monthly. The insurance company will provide the coverage once the premium has been paid. This depends on the payment terms of each insurer.

6. Healthcare card means a card issued to the insured person

that can be used to access the medical facilities through their network hospitals cashless treatment or direct billing by following terms and conditions.

7. Per disability or single confinement means the case

when the covered person is confined to a hospital or medical centre as an inpatient at any time, which includes the confinement for 2 times or more due to the same cause, disease, or complication, with intervals of not more than 90 days from the most recent discharge from a hospital or medical centre.

8. Network hospital or Cashless treatment mean a hospital

with which the insurance company has an agreement that allows you to receive medical treatment on a direct billing basis. This will help you avoid the need to pay first and claim reimbursement because the approved medical bills are directly paid by the insurance company to the hospital.
